Nearly two months have passed since we took a much needed trip to Charleston, SC - our first summer family vacation in over three years. These times never last as long as you want them to and vacation days rarely linger so we did all we could to see the city and its surroundings. I did take pictures though I made it a point (this time) to set the camera down so that I could truly take it all in. What a cool place...I immediately fell in love. I can't wait to go back to the Carolinas soon and if I had my way, we'd make it our new home in 2010. ; )
As soon as we dropped our luggage at home base we drove to the nearest beach. My son could not wait to hit the water; can you tell? I thought for sure he'd melted his crocs... ;)
I've never surfed though I'm willing to try. The sight of surfers just screams vacation!
My son found part of a shell - and it slipped out of his hands. Hmmm...the water is different here, Mom!
Good 'ole Ocean - lots of salt to burn your eyes. You know, you explain these things to your kids and they just stare at you as if you were making the stuff up. I guess they just have to experience it for themselves. As if I was any different... :)
And then he realized it didn't taste so good either and ran to find fresh water!
I am mesmerized by Jellyfish and they truly are one of my favorite sea creatures. So graceful and fragile.
A plethora of Charleston's best ABC gum. :)
The Customs House...I just need a bride and groom!
Cypress trees; another example of nature's perfection.
Cypress and the hubby. Awe...oh, sorry. I mean, how manly and rugged.
And they have freaking huge spiders! This one holds a special place in my heart as we JUST missed giving it a big kiss while walking thru a plantation (and I mean JUST).
Apparently Scarlett is still undecided. ; )
Row, row, row your wooden boat gently thru the swamp...mind your fingers, hands and toes or else they will get chomped!
Convincing lad, isn't he? Drama club here we come.
Life's a Beach...no, really...it is when you're in the Carolinas. ; )
And a jaunt to Savannah led us to the Mercer House of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil fame. Sweet digs, I must say.

I was so glad to see that you posted some pics from Charleston and Savannah. They are such fantastic places. When I was in Charleston, I could have taken a hundred photos of all the backyards and secret alleys. Beautiful. Love the spider!!! :)
